Expedia.co.uk Affected By Google Core Algorithm Update June 2021?

I was doing some research today (7.4.22) and I saw that Expedia.co.uk's UK search visibility in the UK had dropped dramatically last year according to semrush.com data. I was aware that their sister site expedia.com had reportedly been penalised by GOOG in the past and was interested as what caused the recent drop as I couldn't see any coverage online of this (more recent) cataclysmic decline.

Expedia.com were estimated to have lost 25% of their search visibility on Google from a formal penalty in 2014 according to Search Metrics, and according to my research Semrush estimates that expedia.co.uk lost around 33% of their search traffic on Google UK from June-July 2021. Trivago.co.uk reportedly had similar issues around the same time.

It appears that they have been dramatically affected by Google's core algorithm updates of June and July 2021 . See below for the semrush.com Google UK database of the number of phrases Expedia.co.uk was ranking for in the top 100 results on google.co.uk.

Google UK ranking data for expedia.co.uk

The number of phrases Expedia.co.uk was ranking for in the top 100 results on google.co.uk (Semrush data) went down from 2,843,469 in June 2021 to 797,717 in July 2021 (a decline of around 75%).

A similar trend was seen in the number of phrases sister websites trivago.co.uk & expedia.com were ranking for in the top 100 results on google.co.uk at the same time in the semrush.com data, suggesting they were also affected by the same updates.
